Unique stories, characters and events that move the world.
A film needs a foundation — in story as in audience. The larger the existing base, the more realistic the commercial interest in the finished work.
International projects or material with reach beyond national borders. The goal is the broadest possible release on the top-5 streaming platforms.
Teamwork matters. It's important to us to work on the same wavelength.
Productions with a clear core message. Not a guidebook for life wisdom, but no empty films either.
Driving names in front of the camera where possible, combined with a launchpad for newcomers in the right role.
Films that inspire and entertain.
Investors carry part of our projects. That's why the films should be successful and profitable.

How international producers and writers work with a Swiss co-producer — funding, eligibility and what ORISONO brings to a project.
A Swiss co-producer formally joins your project as a production partner based in Switzerland, taking on a defined share of the financing, the creative collaboration and the production work. Beyond bringing capital and Swiss execution, recognised co-production status is what opens the door to Swiss national and regional film funding and the PICS cash rebate — instruments that are not available to a foreign production on its own. As co-producer, ORISONO handles Swiss financing, execution and delivery from its own infrastructure, and can join at any stage: development, shoot, or post-production only.
Switzerland recognises official co-productions through a network of treaties: bilateral agreements with Germany, Austria, France, Italy, the French Community of Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada and Mexico, plus the European Convention on Cinematographic Co-Production, which extends recognition to many further countries — around 45 in total. Recognition by the Federal Office of Culture opens access to federal funding instruments, but does not by itself guarantee funding. Co-productions with countries outside this framework generally cannot be recognised, so the partner's country matters. ORISONO advises early on whether a co-production structure is realistic for your project and how to set it up.
For a film with a Swiss writer or director, selective production funding from the Federal Office of Culture can reach up to around CHF 1M, with regional funds adding further support depending on where key talent is based. For minority co-productions with a foreign writer or director, national funding is more limited but still meaningful, and European programmes such as MEDIA and Eurimages can contribute to development and production. On top of selective funding, the national PICS cash rebate refunds 20–50% of eligible Swiss spend, capped at CHF 600,000 per project.
Yes, through a minority co-production. When a foreign-led project co-produces with a Swiss company such as ORISONO, it can access Swiss development and production support, European co-production funds, and the PICS cash rebate at the minority co-production rate of up to 40% on eligible Swiss spend. The exact mix depends on the project's structure, financing and shooting plan. Note that purely national selective funding favours Swiss-led films, so for foreign-led projects the value usually comes from the combination of European funds and the cash rebate rather than from national selective funding alone.
It varies widely by project, but two rules shape the ceiling: federal funding cannot exceed 70% of a film's total costs, and the PICS rebate is capped at CHF 600,000 per project. In practice, financing is assembled from several instruments — selective funding, regional funds, European programmes, the cash rebate and private investment — none of which covers a film alone. ORISONO builds the financing plan around the realistic combination for each project rather than a single source.
ORISONO develops and co-produces feature films, series and documentaries with international reach — stories built on strong IP, a clear core message and an existing audience base, aimed at the widest possible release including the major streaming platforms. We value driving names in front of the camera alongside the right newcomers, and close, direct collaboration across development, production and delivery. Because investors carry part of our projects, we focus on work that can succeed both creatively and commercially. You can pitch a running production or submit a treatment or screenplay through our Collaborate page.
